Art with Mrs. O'Neill

In 2nd grade classes we have been studying asian culture & in particular Chinese New Year.Students love the bright cultural traditions & especially the dragons. We glued yarn in a shape for the body & then drew a pattern in oil pastels.  Here are some of their masterpieces. 

I found this idea online & thought it looked like a lot of fun. The kids really enjoyed the 3-d effect & they always love learning about Vincent Van Gogh. we studied a little of his life history & took our inspiration from his bedroom at Arles painting & the chair with the pipe.
