Letter Art

I am trying a new lesson using the artist Stuart Davis as inspiration. The kids have really enjoyed playing around with letters and I used it to teach positive and negative space, composition, and resist techniques with oil pastel.
We simply traced dye cut letters and numbers with oil pastel, students colored in interesting spaces with overlapping letters and negative areas. some chose to add patterns.
