I have so many pictures of our art show I am posting again! Here are some pics of our 1st graders work. They studied European art and artists. We learned about Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Castles, the Eiffel Tower. We also studied the Lascaux Caves and I made a cave in the hallway with all the cave art pics! and Picasso.

Arts in the school Night

I am very late posting these, but I stay so busy during the school year I can barely keep up sometimes! Each May we have a school wide artshow to showcase the student work that has been made in art throughout the year. This years art show was wonderful and we had a full house! We had over 1200 students this year, and I wish I could have taken pictures of all of the work. However, that would have been too large of a task! Here are some of the pictures from first grade projects:  First Grade artwork included: Winter Cardinal paintings, Snowy Day Mixed Media art, Eiffel Towers, Tropical Birds, and Picasso style faces

Fall Trees

I saw this idea online and just had to try it. This lesson was a great way to teach sculpture and was easy enough for the little ones to do. We cut the top of brown paper bags in strips. (I told the kids to use their thumb as a guide to the width of each strip). We opened the bottom of the bag and twisted into a trunk. Then twisted the top strips into branches. I hot glued the trees to a small piece of cardboard to help them stand up and students tore paper leaves to glue to the branches.
