Preparing for Arts in school night!

Image
Been putting in some weekend hours at work; hanging student work for our upcoming art night. The kids have worked very hard and so far it's looking great!

Foil Metapec Sun project

I'm trying a new project from the author of dynamic art projects for children. We are studying South American culture, so why not go for the classic sun symbol? We are using styrofoam plates, trays, & recycled cafeteria trays to shape the face. Then spray with adhesive and cover with foil, rub (great time to discuss embossing) then add colors with sharpie. The kids are loving it & the results are wonderful!

Art club worked very hard on this exhibit & I think it turned out great!

Read across America Lorax exhibit

Tomorrow is the Read Across America event at The Clarksville Public Library. Art club completed our truffula trees this morning & I spent this afternoon setting up the truffula craft area for tomorrow's event. It's looking great! The trees were made with plumbing pipe insulation tubes, yellow duct tape, and tissue puffs. We had a lot of fun creating these!

Egyptian masks

Third graders are busy working on Africa units to prepare for arts in school night. We have been busy with the paper mâché masks. It sure is a messy project, but we always have a lot of fun getting our hands dirty!

Van Gogh's Starry Night

As part of our Van Gogh unit students recreate their own versions of Starry Night. It's an oldie but goody, who doesn't love the classic Starry Night?
